Our first full week has been one of hard work and settling down, but also lots of mess! Â
In Maths, Year 6 have been looking at long multiplication and doing a super job with Miss Kemp. Â This is the sort of thing they have been up to, maybe get them to talk you through it!

Years 5 and 4 have been working through some really tricky number sequences, using their place value knowledge to work out the missing numbers. Â Again, lots of hard work!
In English we have been writing acrostic poems and even getting round to recording them, something we will carry on with next week. Â As soon as they have been recorded we will put them on the website for you to have a listen to. Â We talked about what a poet has to do when they perform, and in doing so, we came across this poem by Michael Rosen:

We love it!
Of course on Monday we went for our first swimming lesson! Â Everyone tried really hard and was very patient as we were put into groups by Genevieve, our teacher. Â Remember your kits for this week.
And so to the mess! Â On Tuesday we had our first Forest School lesson of the term with Mrs Booth. Â As ever, the children thoroughly enjoyed it. Â This will be happening every other Tuesday (next lesson will be the 26th), so remember those wellies and waterproofs. Â I will be using some of our forest school time to work on some interventions with some of the class, something that worked really well this week. Â Well done everyone!
On Thursday we had a go at making some shadufs as part of our topic on Ancient Egypt. Â I'll let the children explain what they are and what they do, but all we gave them was a few sticks, some string and a blob of clay. Â The results were spectacular. Â Mrs Ward was so impressed she took some photos which you can find on the Facebook page. Â But it was messy!
On Friday we made more mess in Science! Â We were trying to see if gases weighed anything. Â To do this we measured the weight f carbon dioxide in fizzy pop. Â Very fizzy pop, as Maddie found out! Â To get an idea of the sort of experiment we carried out, follow this link:

Next week, we will be writing arguments, having a go at division and, believe it or not - designing Christmas cards!
