Our Curriculum

Our music curriculum aims to engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music. Our intention is that children will gain a firm understanding of what music is through listening, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing, and composing across a wide variety of historical periods, styles, traditions, and musical genres. This is achieved through our close working relationship with Shropshire Music Service and adopting their curriculum planning which is closely aligned with the 'Model Music Curriculum'. Pupils are given the opportunity to develop their skills as musicians through the teaching of instruments and, as singers in whole school performances. In doing so we shall increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement.

Curriculum Arrangements

On a weekly basis a specialist music teacher from Shropshire Music Service comes into school to lead music lessons for the pupils in each class. This ensures high quality and specialist teaching to children across the school. Children are exposed to all aspects of the music curriculum, incorporating a range of musical instruments and elements of music.

On an annual basis, we celebrate our musical talents in a whole school musical assembly for parents. Children showcase their term's learning and musical skills both individually and as a whole class.

Music Clubs and Events

Alongside our weekly lessons, a member of staff also runs a choir club during lunchtimes on a weekly basis across the year. Songs practiced in the club are showcased at special events, such as Harvest and Christingle. Children also have the opportunity to share their singing with the local community at the local garden centre and at the school fete.

December 2025

The children loved singing Christmas Carols to the local community at Bridgemere Garden Centre. They were very lucky children to have received a big mug of hot chocolate to enjoy with their families.

Bridgemere were very kind and generous and even gave the children the opportunity to visit Santa and receive a very special gift.

Annual Big Band Week!

On an annual basis we invite a 'Big band' into school from Shropshire Music Service for 'Live Band Week'. These visits are very much enjoyed, especially when they had a chance to join in! Here is a little clip of our Autumn 2025 visit.
