This half term the children have carried out a leaf study during their Science lessons. We collected a variety of leaves and made observational drawings, measured them and were able to I.D them. We then carried out an experiment to find out why leaves change colour in the Autumn. The children made their predicitons and then observed what happens when green leaves are soaked in rubbing alcohol over a period of 5 days. The colours that came out of the leaves were orange, brown, green and yellow. The children discovered that the colours are always there and that as the autumn arrives and we have less hours of daylight the leaves begin to die.
